Sail trim tip by Bill Gladstone - For a given wind speed, a deeper more twisted sail shape is preferred in big waves or chop. A flatter, less twisted shape is better in smooth water. Same total power, but a different mix.

Stay away from high pressure, and position yourself to take advantage of new breeze, but beware of sailing the forecast instead of the wind, or you may find yourself in perfect position for a weather change that happens later than expected (or never happens).
